As you know my kids are little book worms so when I was approached by the Jungle Jam PR team to review Jungle Jam in Brazil I jumped at the opportunity.
Following on from Jungle Jam, Jungle Jam in Brazil is the second instalment in the series.
In the new book the Jungle Jam Band takes a trip to Brazil for their biggest gig yet! Gina the giraffe takes centre stage as she overcomes her nervousness around leaving home and trying new things in the tropical backdrop of the famous Rio beaches, encouraged and supported by her Jungle Jam band friends.
The Jungle Jam series is a fun, informative series that introduces young children to new musical genres, instruments and cultures as they enjoy the journey of the Jungle Jam band around the world.
Although it is aimed at children ages 0-5 I thought it was a little too simple for my just turned 5 year old son. The language and illustrations were better suited for my 3 year old daughter who enjoyed listening to the story and looking at the illustrations much more. She loved the characters and had fun imitating the sounds introduced in the story.
The book introduces children to a few Portuguese words and I think that it is a great subtlety. Also I love that all the animals’ names start with the same letter as their animal word and think it is great for young readers.
Jungle Jam in Brazil includes an activity page where children are invited to find the musical instruments hidden in the picture. In addition to the activity page there is a facts page with facts about Brazil. Both the activity and the facts page are in my opinion a great complement to the story.
Jungle Jam in Brazil is available now for £5.99 at www.jungle-jam.com, Amazon and Waterstones.
