An Interview with my 4 Year Old

I have been wanting to write a post like this for quite a while and now, thanks to Emma from Island Living 365 I have an amazing excuse to do so. Thank you Emma for tagging me in the #LittleOnes tag.

The #LittleOnes tag was created by Emily from My Petit Canard after she wrote a post asking her daughter some birthday questions. Now, it does not need to be your child’s birthday for you to take part (my son’s birthday was in July). You might just want to do it as a fun activity or out of curiosity which is exactly why I wanted to take part. I just couldn’t wait to hear the kind of answers my son would give. I have tagged five other people to take part in the #LittleOnes tag (names at the end of post) and I really hope they have as much fun as we did doing it.

  1. Thank the blogger that tagged you and link to their blog
  2. Interview your little one using the 22 questions.
  3. Tag 3 – 5 bloggers to join the #LittleOnes tag
  4. Grab the #LittleOnes badge to add to your post or sidebar

  • How Old Are You?

I am 4 Mum. You keep asking me the same thing… I am a big boy now and I can do big roars like the big, bad, gigantic T-Rex’s that live in the volcanos. (This started well! Ok at least he is not giving me one word answers. I have no idea why he thinks Dinosaurs live inside volcanos by the way. I think I’ll blame Daddy for that).

  • When Is Your Birthday?

Hummm…. (stares blankly into the ceiling) I’m not sure but it’s not tomorrow. I already had a birthday party at my house and a birthday party at Teta’s house. My friends came to my party at my house with presents and a fire engine motorbike cake that you made Mummy. Do you remember? And I got lots of presents at my Teta’s house. Can I have more presents? (He just turned 4 so I suppose he wasn’t going to know an exact date. He sure remembers all the parties though…)

  • How Old Is Daddy?

I don’t know. This old. (he shows both his hands. 10?!? Really? I wonder how old he thinks I am)

  • How Old Is Mummy?

You are less than Daddy. ( he shows one hand. 5?!? I think we need to do some work on this!)

  • What’s Your Favourite Colour?

Orange. (Even his 2 year old sister knows that and she often gives him anything and everything orange coloured. So cute!)

  • What’s Your Favourite Food?

Chicken. (really???) I like to eat the chicken legs we get from the barbecue man. (ahhh that makes more sense).

  • Whats Your Favourite Drink?

Sumo. (that’s Portuguese for juice)

  • Who’s Your Best Friend?

Fabrício. (They are truly joined at the hip. Whoever said that young children don’t have the capacity to develop friendships was TOTALLY WRONG! These two are living proof of it)

  • What’s Your Favourite Programme?

Paw Patrol (to be honest, even I enjoy watching it)

  • What’s Your Favourite Song?

So high, so high… You know Mum. The one that comes on the radio in the car and you have to put louder and louder. That one. That is my most favourite song that I really like. (Lol! he means Coldplay’s ‘Hymn For The Weekend’)

  • What’s Your Favourite Animal?

Big, big Lions and I saw a really big one sleeping on top when we went to the zoo. (This is true, there was a Lion sleeping on top of a glass tunnel when we went to the zoo last week)

  • What Is your Favourite Book?

The book with no pictures because it makes me laugh because you have to say some funny things and you make funny noises and it is funny Mummy. You are funny Mummy! (I’m glad someone finds me funny. This is a really great book by B.J. Novak and according to my son it does exactly what it says in the tin. It turns me into a comedian)

  • What Are You Scared Of?

  • What Makes You Happy?

Mummy and Daddy (I swear he really did say it. I was expecting him to say ice cream or my Teddy but no, Mummy and Daddy make him happy)

  • What Is Your Favourite Thing To Do?

Squirting people in the garden with Teta’s big hose. It’s really funny! (he is the only one that finds this funny. Everyone else just finds it very annoying)

  • Where Is Your Favourite Place To Go?

The Fire Station. I really want to go and slide down the pole like Flat Stanley.

  • What Do You Want To Do Today?

Play in the water.

  • What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up?

A fireman engineer.

  • What Do You Like Helping Mummy Do?

Putting clothes in the right place. (I have absolutely no idea what he is talking about. The only thing he does that involves putting clothes somewhere is emptying the draws on the bedroom floor because he was looking for something…)

  • What Do You Like Helping Daddy Do?

Do dangerous things with the tools. Only big people can help Daddy because it is very dangerous and you can make blood and then you have to go see Drª Sofia (his pediatrician) but I’m a big boy now so i can help him.

  • What Is Your Favourite Thing About Mummy?

You are a hero because you are very lovely and kind. És tão querida Mãe. ( Portuguese for you are so sweet Mother. This is possibly one of the sweetest things he has ever said about me and completely melted my heart).

  • What Is Your Favourite Thing About Daddy?

He can carry me on his shoulders and on just one arm. He is very, very strong Daddy.

And there you have it. My interview with my lovely and very funny 4-year-old son.
