Festive days out the whole family will enjoy

The Christmas season is well and truly upon us, meaning plenty of family time spent nestled around the Christmas tree, drinking hot chocolate and watching our favourite films. But it’s not all about staying indoors, even though the weather outside is frightful. For a little inspiration on where to go for a festive day out with all the family, check out my top Christmas-themed days out below.

Christmas at Legoland Windsor

Legoland isn’t just a summer’s day out, as it’s decked to the halls with Christmas spirit during the month of December. This year take the whole family to Legoland and marvel at its eight-metre high LEGO Christmas tree, sat alongside a larger-than-life LEGO Santa. While you’re there be sure to have a go on all the famous rides, take part in a LEGO scavenger hunt, build a LEGO snowflake to take home and of course, meet Father Christmas himself. It’ll be a day the whole family will remember for years to come.

Lapland UK

You’ve heard of Lapland, Finland, but did you know there was a Lapland much closer to home? Lapland UK can be found in Whitmoor Forest in Berkshire. This fairytale Christmas experience is ideal for a family day out with activities every generation will enjoy. As soon as you enter this enchanted forest you will be transported to a magical world, full of elves and story telling, lights and snow. This 4-hour tour leads you through the forest, where you can make toys with the elves, decorate gingerbread men, go ice skating and meet Father Christmas. It really is what children’s dreams are made of, and is sure to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.

Harry Potter Studios

There really is nothing more magical at Christmas time than the world of Harry Potter. This beloved book and film series has captured children’s and adult’s imaginations for 20 years, and its following only continues to grow. Warner Bros Studio Tours in London brings this enchanting story to life yet again, inviting visitors to walk through sets including Hogwarts, The Great Hall and even a reconstruction of Platform 9 3/4. Harry Potter fans will love the all-new Hogwarts Express, where you can climb aboard the train’s carriage and pose with a disappearing luggage trolley. Just don’t forget to warm up with a butterbeer before you leave.

Lincoln Christmas Market

To really get into the spirit of giving, make sure you visit the largest Christmas market in the UK. The Lincoln Christmas Market welcomes more than 250,000 people every year over a four-day period. Held around three weeks before Christmas, it’s the ideal place to find any last-minute gifts or try the delicious food stalls, home to delicacies including wild boar burgers, bratwurst, churros, mulled wine and hot chocolate. You’ll also find a funfair for the little ones, complete with a ferris wheel near the cathedral quarter. The main market area is also held in the castle grounds, giving you a fantastic up close view of Lincoln’s history.

Have you been on any of these festive days out before, or are there any family trips that I’ve left out? Let me know in the comments below.

Love, P
