Are Gowns made of plastic bags, hats that Resemble Mops and Toilet Roll Bags the new ‘Must Have’ for Autumn/Winter 17?

Moschino Toilet Paper Evening Bag

I was scrolling through Vogue online this morning when I came across Moschino’s Autumn/Winter 17 runway show and I just couldn’t believe my eyes. I literally had to do a double take when I saw the photo of a humble toilet roll with a chain and Moschino printed across the front labelled as ‘the new hit bag’!

WTF? I mean maybe I’m missing something here  or maybe I’m just not cool enough to fully embrace and understand this trend but I just can’t see myself wearing a dress made of black bin bags or paper bags anytime soon (I’m totally uncool I know)

Can you just imagine turning up at a wedding or event wearing a hat that resembles a mop or a dress made of bubble wrap or a cuff that looks like a cut out can top?

Moschino is always a show where you can expect the unexpected. You can never be sure what exactly Jeremy Scott (creative director of Moschino) will produce but you know it will be big, colorful and a little weird. I mean I’m all for self expression and I can understand Jeremy Scott’s collection was suppose to be a critique on consumerism and waist but Jeremy Scott being Jeremy Scott took it all a little bit too literally in my view. Of course I think as a show it worked beautifully and I love the creativity and the clever execution of every single piece but personally I will not be rushing to add anything from the so called ‘Trash Chic’ trend to my wardrobe.

What do you think? Is this ‘Trash Chic’ trend something you could get on board with or do you think it’s totally over the top? Leave me a comment below. I would love to read your views on it.

Love, P

  1. Nope, I’m not into this and i’ve never picked up a copy of vogue in my life. I’m more of a Joules girl! #StayClassyMama

  2. where wold you put you camera? I’m a complete novice when it comes to fashion and often look in dismay at the runway shows, I think the only time I read vogue is in the dentist waiting room and people look at me like I’m slightly insane as I laugh out loud. Hats off to anyone that tries these things out but it definitely isn’t for me! #stayclassymama

  3. ha ha,glad I saw this as it makes me laugh 🙂 says the woman who is sat on the sofa in 6 year old pregnancy yoga pants. These haven’t been worn for a pregnancy in 2 years and never will be again! (God they are comfy though, forgive me…..) #stayclassymama

  4. I have no clue on fashion and seeing this makes me grateful! Ridiculous: I want clothes that fit nicely and don’t show up the food spillages and snot (children’s, not mine!) #StayClassyMama

  5. Not.A.Fan. At all… Im all for fashion and the ingenuity of catwalk fashion… but its like they ran out of ideas and looked around them for inspiration… Sat on the loo… looked to the left and thought…”Toilet roll… well no one has done THAT yet…?” #stayclassymama

  6. Count me OUT! I am all for reuse and recycle, but there are limits. This reminds me of an old I Love Lucy episode: The fab four are all in Paris and Lucy is part of a runway show. Always trying and vying for attention, she walks the runway in a potato sack. While well ahead of her time, it seems as though the world just caught up! I won’t be wearing mom jeans, but my recyclables will go in thebin… #stayclassymama xoxo

  7. I actually love this bag and I would totally wear it if I could afford it, except it is way too small for all the stuff I lug around. I do think couture is a form of art and I appreciate the humour in this collection. But I don’t think there is a place for it off the catwalk. #Stayclassymama

  8. LMAO! That bag is horrible. I think today’s fashion is garbage. The Kardashian’s are wearing lingerie in the streets. Where did it all go wrong?

Trash chic is definitely not for me!

  9. It’s totally ridiculous and unwearable but it does make me think that clothes could be more green in the future. The loo roll is totally handy for those moments you have a toddler snot explosion or no loo roll! #StayClassyMama xx

  10. I think may be my son was at the show? He sticks his left over wrappers in my hair, loves to tuck a little bit of rubbish in a pocket here and there! I feel confident that should this look take off I could quickly throw something together from under the stairs and I’d be bang on it. Haha. Not cool Moschino, not cool. #stayclassymama

  11. I may not rush out and add the trash chic to my wardrobe but the inner (much younger) fashionista in my head is in love with that silver dress! They can keep the rest.

  12. I think Moschino is more of filter and understanding than actual wear as it was on catwalk. I can see myself wearing a toilet-roll bag for instance but I don’t see myself wearing a mop-hat. However I do see the main idea!

P.S. wanted to ask if you’d like to follow each other?

  13. I’m not going to lie, I just don’t get the fashion world at all! What is all that?! Like, are we supposed to wear it, or is it art just to look at?! #StayClassyMama

  14. I think they’ve gone slightly mad with this one. Although I’m sure some more money than sense socialite or the like will be happy to pay thousands for basically items they could find down asda 🙂

  15. These shows are just to make a statement. Nobody would wear that in public. The models don’t look thrilled to be wearing it either. #StayClassyMama

  16. I think it’s ridiculous. Especially considering the plastic crises in our oceans. Why could he not have gone the ‘green’ route. When did fashion design start including things that no one (except maybe Lady Gaga) actually wear.
